World’s oldest runestone discovered: Inscriptions 2,000 years old

The rune stone was discovered in autumn 2021 during the unearthing of a grave near Tyrifjord, west of Oslo, in a region known for several important archaeological finds. The finds in the pit – burned bones and charcoal – indicate that the runes were probably carved between 1 and 250 AD. Zilmer said the point of a knife or needle may have been used.
