The number of operational nuclear weapons has increased
According to the Stockholm Peace Research Institute Sipri, the nuclear powers are continuing to push ahead with their nuclear armament. Researchers estimate that there are around 12,500 nuclear warheads worldwide. Sipri director Smith spoke of one of the most dangerous periods in human history.
