Sydney. Australia proves once again that it is a country of extremes: Meteorologists measured a temperature difference of 50 degrees between the hottest and the coldest place Down Under within less than 24 hours, according to the weather service “Weatherzone”.
43 degrees were measured in Fitzroy Crossing in the state of Western Australia on Tuesday afternoon. In Mount Hotham in the state of Victoria on the east coast, the values fell to minus seven degrees early Wednesday morning.
While the heat in the west is not very unusual, the cold in the east is a surprise, meteorologist Jessica Miskelly said. “Such a difference in temperature is quite unusual for November.”
Most recently, in September 2018, there was a similarly large difference, also between places on the west and east coasts, as the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper wrote.
