New oil project despite concerns about climate change

Despite scientists warning of more emissions from fossil fuel production, there is a new oil project in the US that looks set to stretch for decades. The administration of US President Joe Biden has approved the ConocoPhillips Willow project in northern Alaska, which will peak at 180,000 barrels of oil per day. Over a 30-year period, the use of this oil would produce greenhouse gas emissions of at least 263 million tons.
