Sharm el-Sheikh The past eight years have apparently been the hottest years anywhere in the world. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), citing preliminary data for 2022, explains this in a report that it published on Sunday, the first day of the UN climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh (COP27).

“As COP27 kicks off, our planet is sending out a distress signal,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the WMO report.
