Budget Committee of the Bundestag: More money for research on endometriosis

ZMore money should be made available for research into the causes of endometriosis in women. On Thursday, the Budget Committee of the Bundestag decided on a new funding line with a volume of five million euros as part of its budget deliberations.
“This is a great success and an important step towards more equality in the health care system,” said the Green budget politician Bruno Hönel of the AFP news agency.
On endometriosis about 40,000 women fall ill every year. The causes are largely unclear. “endometriosis means severe pain for millions of women with no prospect of healing,” Greens health expert Saskia Weishaupt also told AFP.
For decades there has been a lack of important basic research. That is why ten times more funds will be made available for endometriosis research in the next year alone than in the past 20 years combined.
